Speech Topics and Practice Prompts

Lists of things to talk about, written so you can start speaking straight away: persuasive and informative speech topics sorted by audience and length, small talk questions with follow-up lines, and workplace roleplay scenarios with both roles and a goal.

How to use a topic list

  1. Filter before you browse

Each list can be narrowed by audience and by length or difficulty, so you only read topics that fit your assignment or situation.

  2. Pick quickly

Shortlist three, say each one aloud as a sentence and keep the one you can talk about for a minute without notes. If you cannot decide, use the random button.

  3. Speak before you write

Talk through the topic once before drafting anything. You will find out which parts you can already explain and which need research.
